Ahead of the National Day of the Russian Federation, the Chairman of the Confederation of Young Leaders (CYL) and the Director of the Indian Institute of Governance and Leadership (IIGL) Mr. Himadrish Suwan during a virtual meeting with the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Republic of India, H.E Mr. Nikolay R. Kudashev hosted by the Confederation of Young Leaders (CYL) lauded the Russian Federation.
Here is an abstract from the CYL Chairman’s address on June 10, 2021:
Distinguished Guests, Dear Friends, it is indeed a great day aswell as an auspicious occasion, we are truly honoured to have this webinar with our valued partner, the Embassy of the Russian Federation in India on Strengthening solidarity and cooperation from Moscow to New Delhi amidst the ongoing health crisis along with the celebrations to mark the National Day of the Russian Federation.
Distinguished Guests, at the outset, On the occasion of the National Day of the Russian Federation, on behalf of the entire CYL family and on my own behalf, I am pleased to convey to Your Excellency, and through you to the friendly Russian people, my warmest congratulations. It is a pleasure for us to follow the great achievements of the Russian Federation and the Russian friends in terms of economic progress, innovation and cultural growth. Under the visionary leadership of its leaders; Russia has grown into world’s most valued partner contributing to peace and stability as well as to global development. Confederation of Young Leaders (CYL) attaches great importance to the comprehensive and sustained deepening of the traditional friendly relations with Russia. His Excellency the Ambassador’s personal attention has been a source of great strength and under his leadership, we sincerely look forward to our meaningful engagements.
Ladies and Gentleman, dear friends, I would like to take this opportunity to extend my heartiest gratitude to the Russian Government, the Russian Embassy in India and the friendly people of Russia for being one of the first to stand with India amidst the ongoing health crisis. Right from Oxygen concentrators to Sputnik vaccine — Such efforts to extend India a lifeline underscores the need to strengthen popular support for the long-term development of the Russia-India relations. I am ready to work with you and do everything possible to achieve this goal.
Friends, the world has changed, but India and Russia have found ways for their relationship to hold firm. The Sputnik vaccine has been accepted as one of the most effective vaccine. The recent publication of the Lancet report gives a very positive indication of the effectiveness of the Sputnik vaccine. So, we are extremely satisfied that the Sputnik vaccine is now available in India and I would urge my friends to get the Russian vaccine. I would be glad to get myself vaccinated with the Russian vaccine once it is available in optimum volume in the national capital.
Distinguished Guests, Generations of Russians — even the young — are aware of Raj Kapoor and his cinema. Raj Kapoor sang, “Mera joota hai Japani, yeh patloon Englistani, sar pe lal topi Russi; phir bhi dil hai hindustani” Half a century later, Russians still cherish this. I conclude by recalling the words of a great Russian painter, Mr. Nikolai, which are very apt for this occasion: “The Indian heart is drawn to the boundless spaces of Russia and India too has a great magnetism for the Russian heart. There is great beauty in this magnetism between India and Russia. Heart speaks to heart.” Hindi-Rusi Bhai Bhai!
