January 11 marks the 55th death anniversary of Bharat Ratna Shri. Lal Bahadur Shastri, the Second Prime Minister of India. Known for his simplicity and soft-spoken nature, Shastri was the first person to be posthumously awarded the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian award in 1966.
